Bereavement services for you and your loved ones could possibly be considered the “lagniappe” portion of the hospice program, because these services are often an unexpected benefit when your loved one has received hospice services. Bereavement services vary from hospice to hospice, but we at St. Joseph Hospice pride ourselves in providing a well-rounded program for our bereaved, which includes:
¨ Periodic mailings which include both information about the grief process and about the FREE services offered by St. Joseph Hospice;
¨ Individual counseling in the home or at the St. Joseph Hospice office (NOTE: This also includes minor children and grandchildren.);
¨ Support groups (4-week sessions offered 2 times per year—February and August);
¨ Social events (“Heart2Heart Connections” for Widows, “Coffee & Handshakes” for Widowers; “Haven of Hope” for Adult Children & Grandchildren);
¨ Seminars on specific topics (i.e., “Handling the Holidays,” “Is What I’m Feeling ‘Normal’?”);
¨ Memorial services (2 per year—June and December).
¨ Periodic check-in phone calls to offer support and further assistance;
¨ Heart Connections’ Bereavement Blog (http://stjosephnober.blogspot.com/) with resources, articles, videos, calendar of events, and more.
Although all members of a family are affected in some way by the death of a loved one, each loved one is affected in a unique way and receives support differently. We want to allow you the opportunity to customize the bereavement services for what is best for you and your loved ones. If the mailings and calls are coming to you and you would appreciate the support, you do not need to respond to this questionnaire in any manner. However, we have found that some of our bereaved would prefer not to receive calls and/or mailings OR they would prefer the calls and/or mailings go to another loved one who might welcome the additional support. If you would like to customize the bereavement services for you and your loved ones, you can complete the form below.
